Arriving at
the Museum car park (its home for the first three years) in early
November 1994 and a broken wrist as a result of a small accident
“making it safe” the work outside could not be started until the
spring of 1995.
In the
meantime the undercarriage units were de-corroded, stripped, restored
and re-painted in the warmth of Mac’s factory at Malton, North
Yorkshire
In the
summer of 1995 the restored undercarriage was fitted and WH991 was able
to move around when necessary.
August 1995
saw the arrival of the rest of WG718 from Stratford on Avon,
The tail
boom and main rotor blades having been recovered in the spring.
